This is my first non-Sailor Moon story, even though it still is kinda. Nonetheless, I stumbled across the S2K story thread and since it was 3AM I decided to contribute to it! S2K - Masaka! by Scott "Cyclops" Summerton Last Revised Monday December 6th, 1999 --------------- "It's all just another story thread" I thought, "just a way to write up a few quickie transformations with no real story." I was both right and wrong. First: it was not a story thread at all. Second: the transformations were just descriptions because they were based first- hand incidents. I know it sounds confusing but hear me out. It started innocently enough, I, Scott Summerton, was browsing story sites and checking my email when I stumbled across a simple story with the heading 'Story 2000.' Checking the browser I noticed this was located in the Fictionmania archive, something I discovered after trying to promote those Sailor Moon fanfics that I wrote with heavy 'transgender' themes as they're called. Naturally 'Story 2000' had garnered my interest, so I clicked on it. My screen suddenly went blank. I thought nothing of it though as I had been having video card problems which caused similar errors. With a sigh I pressed ALT-TAB to get back to my browser. Nothing happened. I believe my exact words as I reached for my computer's reset button at that time were "Aw crap." I never got to push the button though as suddenly "2000" appeared filling most of my monitor's screen. Thinking I had loaded a Shockwave applet I decided to let it run, and thought nothing of the delay as my connection wasn't exactly the fastest one available. Suddenly the numbers swirled brightly and turned into what appeared to be Japanese kanji. My thought process, as muddled as it was, was "How did I know that's what those symbols are called?" I believe it was then when I blacked out. Opening my eyes revealed that my hair was obstructing my view, which was weird since I've never had it long enough to do that before. I realized then that I wasn't alone in the room, and that a tall asian teen with brown hair up in a high ponytail was standing opposite from me, wearing a silk green nightie. Her lithe body's state of undress was not lost on me. "Na ni?!" she exclaimed... ...as did I at the exact same moment. She was wide-eyed as I'm sure I was, but when she went to brush her hair from her eyes exactly as I was attempting to do with mine, it hit me. Unable to speak, I merely thought the following few remarks. "I recognize her..." My brain was in overdrive. "High ponytail... brown hair... asian girl..." as I noticed her signature rose earrings my suspicions were confirmed. "She's Sailor Jupiter..." uttered both I and her simultaneously. "Masaka... that's a mirror!" I was again rendered speechless. Why did I say 'masaka' instead of 'it can't be?' and how did I end up as the real life version of a character from anime? Using my all-too-obvious slender fingers with long elegant nails I finally brushed away the soft brown hair in my face and scanned the mirror. Somehow I was able to tear my eyes from the mirror and as I looked at myself I was greeted with the same thing I had seen in the mirror, only from a much more unique perspective. As stunned as I was, the view was rather pleasing, and somewhat calming. Those S2K stories were true, somehow my fantasy had come true, as confusing as it was that becoming Kino Makoto was my fantasy. "Maybe it wasn't just becoming Makoto," I said aloud with this mature sounding voice. "Maybe I can become Sailor Jupiter as well!" Realizing that being female wouldn't be all bad if I was a superheroine as well, I raised my hand and yelled "JUPITER POWER!" Nothing happened. "Oh yeah, that's the North American version. I'm Makoto, not Lita, so I forgot to say 'Make Up!' like in the Japanese vers-" The ensuing transformation is hard to describe, especially if you endure it yourself. Needless to say I ended up wearing the white leotard, the VERY short green skirt, green boots with a heel I didn't even notice, and two large pink bows, one on my ample chest and another, well, on my butt. I didn't notice the elbow length white gloves until I raised my hands to feel my neck and forehead, confirming the placement of a choker and tiara. "Ma-masaka! It's real!" As excited as I was, I was somewhat disappointed. Yes Jupiter was my favourite, but I also really liked the rest of the Inner Sailor Senshi. (I was already thinking of them as that instead of Sailor Scouts) A curious desire towards Sailor Mercury entered my head, and everything changed again. This time I found myself seated at an extremely well-organized desk with a textbook open in front of me. Again I was in a bedroom, but this time I was clad in pastel blue pyjamas the same colour as my hair. "Blue hair...?" Without hesitation I looked at the cover of the book. The fact that it was all Japanese didn't surprise me, it was the fact that I could easily read it that did. "Advanced Calculous, University Of Tokyo, property of Mizuno Ami." I scrambled to find a student ID of some sort, and in doing so I noticed the dark blue hair shining as it just reached my shoulders. With a definite smile I located a student ID card for Juuban Junior High, where I was an entry-level student. "Entry-level? But that's just grade seven, and I'm making perfect sense of a university calculous text?" Glancing back at the small ID card, I noticed the cute shy smile the girl had when it was taken, remembering why I liked Sailor Mercury so much as well. As I stared blankly through my window at the Tokyo Tower, a worried thought crossed my mind. "What about Jupiter?" It may sound repetitive, but I again went dizzy and found myself once more in the already familiar apartment of Kino Makoto. Apparantly she had changed back out of her fuku and I had arrived as she was brushing her teeth, completely unaware of my previous 'visit.' Upon willing it, I just as swiftly glanced at Mizuno Ami's bedroom once more. "Sugoi! I can switch between the Senshi! But what about the others?" Upon that moment my mind seemingly found complete peace. I slowly opened my eyes to behold a large fire burning in front of me as I knelt before it. Slowly glancing about the expanse of a room I deduced it was a shrine, and by merely gazing at the bulky white and red robes I was wearing I knew it was that of the Shinto religion. When I grasped some of the long black hair and noticed the purple sheen it possessed, I knew I had become Hino Rei, the Senshi of Mars. Smiling her brilliant smile I thought of Tsukino Usagi, aka Sailor Moon. Nothing happened. Frowning I quickly switched though Makoto and Ami once more before returning to Rei and thought of Usagi yet again. Again nothing occured. "I suppose I can just become her guard then." I said, with a magical voice, remembering that Rei's very achievable dream is to become an idol singer shrugging it off. I wasn't that big a fan of the show's title character anyway. "But what about..." Before I could finish my thought, I, at the risk of sounding redundant, awoke in yet another bedroom, this one full of kawaii stuffed animals, including a white cat perched on sleeping on the bed. Quickly I rushed to the large full-length mirror and saw a gorgeous blond with hair reaching all the way to her butt staring back. The provocative red nightgown matched the large bow in my hair. Sailor 'Venus' certainly lived up to her namesake. The cat spoke. "Minako-chan? Minako, daijobu?" "Hai, Artemis." I replied as I lay down on the frilly bed with a huge smile. I started removing the bow from my hair with one hand as the little cat snuggled up in the crook of my arm. Petting him gently I blankly said "Everything is perfect." Before I could fall alseep I remembered the S2K 'stories' and all the warnings. I thought I should post something there as well before I forgot again and made the appropriate switch to write this out. I had to create a Japanese-to-English translator to get my exact message accross the way I wanted it so everyone could read it. I planned to keep up with my past so I'd need it, seeing as how English wasn't exactly going to be my primary language anymore. It only took a few minutes to do though, and I went to bed only a half hour after I first 'arrived' in Tokyo. I'm not sure why I have the ability to become 4 different dream girls when most of the postings I saw referred to a single fantasy. Perhaps it's just part of the weird pseudo-anime world I'm in now. I'll have to run it through the Mercury Computer when I'm not so tired. Well, I know this isn't a warning, but my outcome was a desireable one so I merely hope to wish that upon everyone! Ja ne! preceeding email received from Mizuno Ami translation program written and programmed by Mizuno Ami END --------------- Glossary: 'masaka' translates to 'it can't be', 'no way' or 'impossible' 'na ni' translates to 'what' 'anime' translates to 'cartoon' (it's actually French for animation, but who cares?) :) 'fuku' translates to 'uniform' 'sugoi' translates to 'cool' or 'awesome' 'kawaii' translates to 'cute' the '-chan' in 'Minako-chan' is a form of affection 'daijobu' translates to 'are you ok' or 'are you alright' 'hai' translates to 'yes' 'ja ne' translates to 'see ya' Also: Japanese names are traditionally read backwards, so in the case of 'Kino Makoto' for example, Makoto is the first name while Kino is the last name. Idol singers are common in many anime. The best I can do to explain them would be to simply say they look really cute and can sing really well, and are IDOLized by lots and lots of people.
